The Ortona Armouries, a historical landmark, has been targeted for renovation by the City of Edmonton. CBC News reported that the planned renovation is a $3.2 Million project. Edmonton city is now in the stage of planning and design, with the renovations set to start come 2016. The two-story brick building is located a short distance from downtown Edmonton whose premises were once stables maintained by the Hudson Bay Company. Now, it has become a center for the arts community.
The plans have received positive feedback from the arts community and other tenants of the building. One of the building’s important aspects that will receive a major overhaul is the plumbing system, whose parts will be replaced, and the structure outfitted with upgraded plumbing features with help from plumbing companies in Edmonton. If the plan goes well, the building will provide a significantly improved design and function for the tenants that lease space in the building every month.
Plumbing Updates: Not Just for Big Landmarks
Any building like the Ortona Armoury would benefit from the replacement of old plumbing systems with state-of-the-art components and parts. Water piping and drainage are the two major parts that get overhauled in the Armoury. Without the maintenance of drainage in your home, the drain line gets clogged and will need drain cleaning from Edmonton plumbers like Capital Plumbing and Heating Ltd.
Main Causes of Drain Blockage
Foreign objects and debris are the most common cause of drain blockage. Oils and other kinds of fat poured down the drain will accumulate and solidify and eventually cause a clog. Food debris is a major blockage contributor in combination with oils. Hair is another common snag, and so are other unusual objects, such as toys, toiletries, and jewelry that accidentally fall and slide down the sink drain, or are unintentionally dropped in the toilet.
Other times, blocked drains are caused by improper installation. DIY wannabes who aren’t trained as professional plumbers, or are not skilled enough, to attempt installation that only compromises the plumbing system. Sometimes, they choose the wrong material or install the drainage from an improper orientation (i.e. drains work with gravity).
Clogged Drain Consequences
Clogged drains can lead to damage to the structure of the home itself, as water leaks into the foundation and corners. Also, stagnant water can develop odors that are not only unpleasant but also harmful to one’s health. That’s why at the first sign of a clogged drain, you should have it cleared by skilled plumbers right away.
